I was just a tad bit upset when after finding clothes she needed for PE and trying to use a coupon I for D*ck's Sp*rting Goods store and it was take $10.00 off when you spend $50. (which I did) they would NOT honor it because the stuff she was getting was a brand that they weren't allowed to discount. I asked to talk to the manager and she told me the same thing. I told her they should print right on the coupon that certain brands were exempt (she agreed and apparently I wasn't the first person to tell them that). She told the clerk to go ahead and give me a 20% off one item discount and said "We hope you'll shop with us again". At the time I just wanted to tell her just cancel the sale but KJ needed these for PE and it's hard to find what she needs in other stores. To me everything is so over priced because they know people will use their coupons but it makes me mad when they don't honor it and pay way to much. Oh well, I feel better now that I "VENTED".
Here's another little bit of "EXCITEMENT" Tony, KJ and I experienced Saturday night. My brother Jim and his wife, my sister Judy her husband and his Mom and their daughter all met for supper at Crackle Barrel after the KSU-KU game. (Seriously, it took us longer to decide where to eat than it did to watch the WHOLE GAME)☺ Everyone left and Tony hopped in the driver's seat and we got in the left turn lane behind a car with a white SUV in front of it. All of a sudden the white SUV backed up (pretty fast) and I told Tony look out because the car in front of us might back into us but she stayed put and her car got creamed. The SUV hopped over 2 lanes, jumped a curb and almost hit the big stop light pole and sped off.
Well, the lady was able to drive her car (although it was smoking) and followed him and me being the girl that always loved to follow the fire truck or be a police woman told Tony to follow her because the SUV was trying to get away (he had no damage). He turned into the Wal-Mart lot and drove FAST through it and he got to the lawn and Garden spot and couldn't get out without backing into her (again). He got out of his SUV and walked over to her car and started pushing on her finder (by now you surely have figured out that YES he was drunk, although he told us he had been at the BB game and assured us he only drank WATER). I had Tony pull up to the lady and asked if she wanted me to call 911 and she said YES!!!
Meanwhile he told her he was on his way back to Des Moines (he had his 14 and 16 year old sons with him) and gave her his insurance card to which she said "No, you're staying here until the police get here...I've watched enough TV to know that you're NOT leaving". It was 8:42 and 28º, windy and sprinkling. My 2 stayed in the car, the guy got back in his SUV and the lady and I talked. She ended up putting the back part of her car behind his SUV so he COULDN'T leave (although he kept threatening he was going to if the police didn't hurry up). (I myself was happy it was taking them so long...it gave him some time to sober up). At 10:00 the police still hadn't show up so the lady told the dispatcher she was bringing the guy and her damaged car to the police station. I planned to just go on an leave but she asked me if I would follow behind the SUV that was going to follow her to make sure he didn't just drive off.
About that time the ladies boyfriend and his two friends showed up. Tony and KJ told me later that they were scared for me because when they got out of the car they had their hands in their pockets, and started walking towards all of us and the kids didn't know that the lady knew them. He got in with her and he to asked if I would follow the SUV...so I did. It is weird to go into a locked Police Station at 10 at night with police staring at you. They told us that "fender benders" (they thought one had backed into the other in the Wal-Mart parking lot since that is where he finally gave up the "drive off) don't get top priority and that it was a shift change time, too.
When the guy asked to use the bathroom (after relieving himself twice at the parking lot...nasty) the dispatcher looked at me (I was standing against a wall a ways away so not to interfere until needed) and she said "Here's your husbands insurance card and license" and I said "Oh, I'm not with him" and the lady that got hit said "She's my guardian angel, my hero". "She saw him back into me and noticed too that he had no intention of stopping". The dispatcher told me that was very nice and asked if I wanted to add anything else and I said "Yes, I want him to have a breath test done because he is traveling with his 2 young sons back to Iowa tonight and I want to make sure they make it home, alive". And she told me she had already requested he have it done. Phew!!!
